Responsibilities:

• Safety is a line responsibility. Each individual member of the company should be aware of his responsibility to ensure safe working in his respective area. Apply Company safety regulations.
• To lead by example and provide direction and encouragement to other maintenance staff so that all works is carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with KCA DEUTAG HSSE policies
• Obtain the necessary safety clearance for the nature/type of work to be carried out, in advance, in consultation with the HSE Adviser and in accordance with safety procedures (i.e. WORK PERMIT).
• Ensure that all employees under their authority have sufficient information and knowledge to carry out their job without endangering any persons, plant or equipment and are adequately trained and experienced for a particular task before they are instructed to carry it out.
• Explain to the persons concerned the visible and hidden hazards involved in the jobs. (Job Safety Analysis / Pre job meeting).
• Instruct personnel before commencing the work to the safety precautions and measures to be observed at work (toolbox meetings).
• y the personnel, even if this violation has not resulted in an accident.
• Ensure that health and safety at work and accident prevention are continuously brought to the attention of all employees under their authority by means of job supervision, instruction, and training.
• Ensure that all equipment is maintained and repaired promptly.
• Maintain a preventative maintenance programme in accordance with Group repair and preventative maintenance procedures as directed by the immediate supervisor.
• Ensure that all Third-Party personnel including Service Engineers comply with Group and Installation Safety Procedures.
• Ensure that all equipment under their control complies with statutory requirements and is always maintained in a safe condition or is otherwise completely withdrawn from service, including tools and instruments in their care.
• Ensure that an adequate supply of spare parts is maintained on the installation and is stored in environmentally sound conditions.
• Update or modify any drawings, sketches or information on existing and replacement equipment as required or provide such information to management.
• Carry out tasks as part of a multi-discipline maintenance team as operational requirements dictate.
• Stand-in for alternative work discipline as required.
• Complete any other reasonable tasks as delegated by Line Supervisor.
• Monitor any rig equipment supplied by other contractors or sub-contractors to ensure that it is suitable for use within the areas desired.
• Carry out competence assessment in respect of departmental staff.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Technical qualification or more than 5 years industry experience
• Good spoken English (other languages desirable / advantageous)
• Good Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
• Experience / Knowledge of  SAP Modules PM
• Good level of ex-hazard knowledge / competence
• Analytical thinker; capable of analyzing situations accurately and systematically; identify variances
• Self-motivator; capable of organising self to achieve goals within a reasonable timeframe.
• Assertiveness; capable of performing goal-oriented tasks within a given timeframe
• Determination; capable of working on own initiative to take decisions on the basis of information available within a given timeframe
• Ability to work constructively and confidentially as part of a team to achieve common goals
• Experience of the workings and repair of Drilling Rigs and their equipment desirable. 

Minimum experience:

• Trade qualification papers.
